Addressing Racialised Health Inequalities
with Voluntary Health Scotland
The Race for Human Rights team are excited to be working with Voluntary Health Scotland and their members to tackle racialised health inequalities by embedding anti-racism and human rights in their work.
To introduce our collaboration, we wrote a guest blog on the VHS website. Read the article to learn about:
- the need for racial equity in the voluntary health sector,
- the barriers to accessing health and wellbeing services for minority ethnic communities,
- common challenges faced by the organisations we support,
- and realistic solutions for organisations to start embedding anti-racism in their policies and procedures.
We also had a stand at the VHS Annual Conference, where the theme of the day was Collaboration for Change. We had many engaging conversations with organisations across the voluntary health sector. We heard about key challenges in tackling racialised health inequalitities such as connecting with communities, stigma, lack of data and maintaining momentum. We also asked about priority areas for improvement on organisational anti-racism to inform a series of training sessions we’ll be delivering to VHS members in 2026.
