What is “SWITCHED ON”?

Research has shown that multiple levels of deprivation are more likely to exist amongst ethnic minorities such as high unemployment and poorest housing. These two factors alone can result in a high incidence of fuel poverty amongst these communities. Switched On is a CEMVO programme funded by the Scottish Power Energy People Trust to raise awareness on energy efficiency and inform households what measures can be taken on board to minimise the effects of fuel poverty.

What is the SECBP?

The Social Enterprise Capacity Building Programme (SECBP) is funded by the Scottish Government to build social enterprise capacity in the ethnic minority voluntary/ third sector.

Since 2006, CEMVO Scotland has worked with over 40 ethnic minority voluntary/ third organisations to help them develop social enterprise initiatives and secure over £1.5 million worth of funding and business premises, and to access mainstream social enterprise support.

The Black Leadership Network (BLN) was set up by the Council for Ethnic Minority Voluntary Sector Organisations (CEMVO) and the Glasgow Anti Racist Alliance (GARA) in January 2006.  This project is funded by the Scottish Government.
